Look, I'm just trying to get by and look good doing it in one of the most ridiculously expensive cities in the country. I work at a rewarding job i.e. my salary does not support my bougie lifestyle, but I'm making it work. On one of DC's most miniscule salaries I eat clean, exercise, go to cool events, drink a lot (sorry not sorry for that one), pamper myself, and maintain my dog's bougie lifestyle.
Let me set something straight- I don't do "cheap". I do "inexpensive". This is not one of those blogs that's like "hey look at this great deal- $70 for a dress!" In fact those blogs piss me off because let me tell you about the last time I had $70 to spend on something- never. Oh wait no, in college when I was a bartender and made more money than I make now, and my cost of living was approximately zero dollars because I was a stain (I think we should just eat Pokey Sticks and drink Natty Light and play Nintendo today instead of going to class). If bargain shopping were an Olympic sport I'd win the gold and those people would get silver by a longshot- like if it was comparable to swimming I would have lapped Ms. $70 Dress four times in a four lap race. Then I would sell the gold medal because I heard you get taxed for those and I can't even afford that.
Despite being broke, I love all things DC. This is my personal account of taking advantage of all this city has to offer and taking care of myself and my dog-all while being tipsy and not overdrafting my bank account. Oh and, just to throw a wrench in the game - I got married in March 2015 to my husband (I call him Harrison in this blog because that's his name) and we paid for it ourselves aka it was the brokest, bougiest wedding DC's ever seen. And it was amazing. And I sometimes post things I learned from it because F you, Weddingwire and your $50k wedding features and your DIYs that cost more than I have in life savings. (Insert shameless plug for my wedding planner/bff Meg Terry currently living in Orlando - find her if you're there- and photographer BFFs from Penelope Anne who travel).
