Wednesday Workout: Fitness Favs

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

This summer has thrown me waayyy off track (ok I mean I've thrown myself way off this summer). Fortunately there are tons of motivational things out there that have helped me get back on track- really how did people stay fit and healthy before the internet?? Here are some of my fitness favs right now, and I want to hear what your favorite fitness stuff out there is!

Eat Pray Run DC's Run Less Run Faster training program: Have y'all met Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC? She is pretty freakin awesomely positive, and a beast at marathon training. She's been documenting her training program that includes less running but better times- that includes track workouts/sprints and less distance running. Sounds too good to be true right? We'll see at her next race! She documents all her training and a lot of her food, and it's really motivational to follow along and see her commitment! Check it out and follow along with her here.

Fitness Blender's 5 Day Workout Challenge to Burn Fat & Build Lean Muscle : Fitness Blender: wonderful. Fitness Blender with Daniel and Kelli doing workouts together: even better- oh my gahhh they're so fun to watch together, especially because after doing their workouts for years I kind of believe I'm friends with them? Or is it just me? Plus, a 5 day plan with lots of variety makes getting back on track a little easier. Today is Day 3 but it's not too late to join in!

End of Summer Challenge with Fleurty and Fit: If you don't follow Jasmine at Fleurty and Fit you need to go NOW. Jasmine is on an awesome health journey and she keeps it real, keeps it real funny, and is super encouraging. She's running a challenge right now that includes 5 pretty simple elements, and let me tell you- Jasmine's gonna keep everyone on track because that's what she does. So go check out her challenge here and join in!!

Melissa Bender's Yoga, Pilates Fusion Workout: Feeling sore? Feeling stressed? Feeling anything but amazing? Here is your solution to all the things. Something about this workout just really does it for me. Sidenote: when I watch this video I'm like what is it that makes Melissa so beautiful in this workout? Should I dye my hair darker and grow it out long and wear it in a braid so I can look like her? I know, I'll go ahead and check myself into Crazytown.

#YogaGirlChallenge: I mean I'm halfway doing it but watching this whole thing unfold on Instagram is inspiring. Just search the hashtag, kind of join in if you want, and check it out every couple days to see what all these other cool kids are doing. Maybe all these things aren't quite fitness related but I'm a firm believer in sound mind, sound body making it all come together (hey Dad!! I was listening all that time!).

So tell me: what motivates you? What are you favorite fitness things out there right now?

  5. Right now, I'm in the midst of that Ab & Squat challenge (I'm a few workouts behind, but I'm catching up)...

Running is always my go to... but, I took a break this week. (I know, SCANDALOUS)...

But, I think TABATA, and now KICK BOXING are my go to. Fitness Blender is amazing for videos. LOVE THEM!

  11. These are so great Lindsay! I also really feel like I know Kelli and Daniel. Or not really that I know them, but that if I DID know them we would totally be BFFs and they would adopt me as their pseudo fitness child. So yea, definitely not just you :)

  13. I love Courtney's blog. Very inspiring. Instagram is a great motivator along with the ladies in my private Femme Fitale Fit Club group on Facebook. Those ladies share information about exercise and healthy eating and we just keep pushing each other. Highly motivating. I also like Hangtight with MarC. She is on YouTube and her workouts are fun. #wowlinkup

  16. Good Lord, I need motivation in the worst way. Was thinking about doing the sugar challenge again for shits and giggles. I definitely fell off the bandwagon. When I was in NYC, the friend I stayed with dragged me to a Soul Cycle class. It was spinning, and it kicked my ass, but it was motivational. I don't know how to explain it, but at one point I found myself in this emotional place getting out frustrations, and I was crying. It was cathartic! And I have never sweat so much in my life! Def. gonna check out these blogs!
