Clean Eating Quick and Easy Steak with Onions

Sunday, September 8, 2013

So we have been busting into our LivingSocial Omaha Steaks and let me tell you, it has made supper sooo easy. The BF spent college working at the Tombs where he learned a lot about cooking steak, the most important lesson being that cooking it in the pan helps the steak absorb lots of flavor. Fortunate for us considering we live in a teeny apartment with a grill we have to share with the other 900 people in this building. Here's the breakdown:

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Salt (remember, we love garlic more than the average human sooo..)
  • 1 tsp Season All
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1/2 large white onion
  • 2 steaks

Slice the onions. Puncture the steaks with a knife (aka poke the steaks with a knife a bunch of times-Dexter Style- so it absorbs everything. I think he actually stabbed the steaks 12 times each). Sprinkle the salts, pepper and seasonings onto the steaks and press it into the steak. You look kind of crazy but the BF swears by this tactic and apparently so do the people who run The Tombs and Clyde's and all those great steak places. Pan cook the onions and steaks on medium until browned. I like my steaks pretty much mooing so this took about 7 minutes on each side. His took around 9 minutes on each side. We also threw in my favorite easy arugula salad. This midwest girl was SO HAPPY after this meal.
